Job Description: 

The Portfolio Manager supports the planning, analysis, and coordination of projects across the pharmaceutical development and commercial portfolio. Working within a global, cross-functional environment, this role helps maintain an integrated view of portfolio performance, supports decision-making processes, and contributes to ensuring that investments and resources align with organizational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Support & Coordination

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of portfolio plans, including timelines, milestones, and prioritization frameworks.

  • Support the preparation of materials for governance meetings and portfolio reviews.

  • Help ensure accurate documentation and communication of portfolio decisions and updates.

Portfolio Analysis

  • Conduct foundational portfolio analyses (e.g., risk assessments, scenario comparisons, timeline evaluations).

  • Prepare regular portfolio reports, dashboards, and KPIs using available tools and data sources.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Commercial, Manufacturing, and other internal partners to collect project information and ensure alignment with portfolio processes.

  • Support cross-functional teams in tracking progress and identifying potential challenges or resource constraints.

  • Facilitate clear communication of portfolio insights to stakeholders at different levels.

Risk & Opportunity Monitoring

  • Track and highlight emerging risks, issues, or opportunities within the portfolio.

  • Support development of mitigation strategies by gathering insights from functional experts.

  • Assist in evaluating new opportunities (e.g., early programs, lifecycle initiatives, external collaborations).

Process & Tool Enhancement

  • Contribute to the improvement of portfolio management systems and workflows.

  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of digital tools, templates, and analytics dashboards.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, Engineering, or related field required.

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MSc, PharmD, PhD) advantageous but not required.

Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related life-science sectors.

  • Prior experience in portfolio management and strategy

  • Basic understanding of the drug development lifecycle, regulatory steps, or commercial product management.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret data and identify trends.

  • Solid communication and presentation abilities, both written and verbal.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and portfolio/project management tools; experience with dashboards or analytics platforms is a plus.

  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a global, matrixed team environment.
